A couple of years ago I wrote “Haiku del aire”, a series of 6 short pieces for alto flute and guitar, inspired by the fantastic poetry of Matsuo Basho (1644-1694). The importance of contemplating the landscape, the emphasis on describing the “here and now” and the special relationship that Japanese artists establish with nature is what attracts me to their culture the most.
The Dúo Gelós-Santes, to whom I dedicated the pieces, have just edited some beautiful videos that I’m delighted to share with you. Here you have, for the time being, Haiku II.
