Fred Sturm Performs Works by Mario Carro in Albuquerque

American pianist Fred Sturm will perform a program titled Two Unique Spanish Composers, featuring works by Frederic Mompou and Mario Carro, on Saturday, November 8, at 4:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Presented in cooperation with the Professional Music Teachers of New Mexico, the recital offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience two distinct yet spiritually connected voices of Spanish piano music.

The program includes Mompou’s Scenes d’Enfants, Canción y Danza No. 1, and selections from Música Callada, alongside Carro’s Impromptu (2010), Río de Cristal (2019), and Incertidumbre (2022).

Known for his expressive depth and stylistic versatility, Fred Sturm brings decades of experience interpreting Iberian and Latin American repertoire. His performance promises to illuminate the lyrical clarity and introspective beauty that define Mario Carro’s piano writing within the broader tradition of modern Spanish music.
