On August 7, 2025, the work Dance me by Mario Carro, for marimba and string quartet, received its Latvian premiere at the South Kurzeme Music Festival Rimbenieks, held in the Gramzda Church.
The concert program, entitled Flowering Jasmine, featured a diverse selection of repertoire, including compositions by Antonín Dvořák, Valentin Jost, Éric Sammut, and Georges Pelēcis, alongside Carro’s Dance me.
The performance was entrusted to the distinguished marimbist Marta Kauliņa-Pelnēna and the Bertschy Quartet, comprising Gunars Murnieks (violin), Diana Reimane (violin), Elīna Cipāne (viola), and Klāvs Jankēvics (cello). Their interpretation contributed decisively to the success of the event, underscoring both the artistic quality of the program and the significance of this premiere within the Latvian musical landscape.
