Ricardo Descalzo performs Impromptu at Fundación Juan March, within the series El arca de Noé
On December 10, 2025, Mario Carro’s Impromptu will be performed at Fundación Juan March in Madrid as part of the newly curated concert series El arca de Noé. This series seeks to highlight works of contemporary Spanish music considered most likely to endure, offering audiences a carefully curated selection of repertoire intended to withstand “the flood of oblivion or disdain.”
The work will be entrusted to Ricardo Descalzo, a pianist of the highest caliber and a devoted advocate of contemporary music, whose artistry and commitment make him one of the foremost interpreters of today’s repertoire.
The program, rigorously assembled, will also feature works by Manuel Castillo, Ramón Humet, Jesús Rueda, Miquel Oliu, Manuel Rodríguez Valenzuela, Alicia Díaz de la Fuente, Gustavo Díaz-Jerez, and Jesús Torres, alongside Carro’s Impromptu. Together, these compositions present a panorama of contemporary creation in Spain, reflecting both artistic diversity and the pursuit of lasting resonance in today’s musical landscape.
