A new performance in Munich for marimba and strings
Mario Carro’s Dance Me for marimba and strings will be presented at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich as part of the first Chamber Concert of the 2026–27 season.
The concert, Neues für Mallets und Streicher (“New Works for Mallets and Strings”), will take place on 18 October 2026 in the historic Allerheiligen Hofkirche, bringing together music that explores the distinctive encounter between mallet percussion and strings.
Featuring Carlos Vera Larrucea as marimba soloist, Dance Me will be performed alongside So-Young Kim and Julia Pfister on violin, Johanna Maurer on viola, and a cellist to be announced. The work explores rhythm, movement and timbral colour through an intimate dialogue between the marimba and the string ensemble.
Its performance at the Bayerische Staatsoper, one of Europe’s major opera and musical institutions, represents a significant new chapter in the life of Dance Me.
